Breakbulk shipping and general cargo chartering

Breakbulk cargo needs the right vessel geometry, lifting capability and stowage plan—not simply available space. We source the tonnage and coordinate the parties around it.

Route from ANTWERP to HOUSTON by sea, 4 940 nm, then 320 km inland to SAN ANTONIO.

Breakbulk cargo is lifted aboard as individual pieces, bundles or units. Vessel geometry, crane capacity, deck strength, stowability and port capability can matter as much as the headline freight rate.

We source multipurpose vessels, general-cargo tonnage and suitable liner breakbulk space worldwide. You contract with the selected carrier; Poseidon coordinates the commercial exchange and keeps the carrier, ports, agents and appointed specialists aligned.

  • Packing, lashing and any special handling the cargo requires

Questions we are asked

What is the difference between breakbulk and project cargo?

Breakbulk is cargo that loads as individual pieces but is still within the normal handling capability of a multipurpose ship. Project cargo goes further: single units that are heavy or out of gauge enough to drive the choice of vessel, the port and often the route.

Can you handle cargo that needs shore cranes?

Yes. Where a unit exceeds the vessel gear, we coordinate with the owner, terminal and lifting specialist to assess a shore-crane solution and identify any port constraint before appointment.
