Dry bulk chartering and freight coordination
We source suitable bulk carriers worldwide and coordinate the fixture from market approach through post-fixture execution, from Handysize part cargoes to full Capesize stems.
A dry bulk enquiry begins with the commodity, quantity and tolerance, load and discharge range, laycan and handling terms. We take that requirement to owners and operators with tonnage in the right position and with the right trading appetite.
Poseidon coordinates the market approach, comparison, negotiation, recap and post-fixture communication. You conclude the charter party with the owner or operator and settle freight directly with them; Poseidon is paid commission by that counterparty.

Questions we are asked
What is the smallest dry bulk cargo you will work on?
Our working floor is approximately 1,000 tonnes. Below that, the economics of a charter are rarely competitive and a liner, breakbulk or consolidated solution is usually more appropriate.
Do you quote a freight rate straight away?
We come back with indications from the market rather than a fixed price. A firm rate follows once an owner has seen the full cargo details and is prepared to offer on them.
Voyage charter or time charter?
A voyage charter suits a one-off parcel where you want a rate per tonne and the owner carries the operational risk. A time charter suits repeat volume where you want control of the vessel for a period. We work on both and will tell you which fits your cargo.
