How it works
-
01
You register
A short application establishes who you are, the sectors and relationships you cover, and the kind of cargo opportunities you are positioned to introduce.
-
02
We agree the terms
Before any introduction, we agree the calculation basis, attribution period, eligibility conditions and payment timing in writing.
-
03
You introduce
Introduce a cargo owner with its knowledge and permission. The counterparty and opportunity are logged against your reference when the introduction is accepted.
-
04
We work the cargo
Poseidon screens the counterparty, sources the provider and coordinates the movement. We keep you informed at the agreed commercial milestones.
-
05
You are paid
The referral fee becomes payable when Poseidon receives the commission to which the introduction relates and the written agreement conditions have been met.
Who this suits
Strong introducers are already close to commercial cargo: industry consultants, independent advisers, freight forwarders, port and terminal service providers, and professionals serving mining, agriculture, manufacturing, energy or construction.
Shipping expertise is not required. A genuine relationship, the counterparty's permission and a credible cargo opportunity are.
Who it does not
Contact lists, scraped leads, anonymous names and introductions made without the counterparty's knowledge do not qualify. Neither do arrangements that create an undisclosed conflict of interest.
Introducers are screened before acceptance and are subject to the same sanctions policy as every other counterparty. Read the policy
Questions introducers ask
What counts as an introduction?
A named company with a real cargo requirement, introduced with their knowledge, that we were not already in contact with. We log the counterparty against your reference on the day we receive it, and that log decides any question about who introduced whom.
How long does an introduction stay attributed to me?
The attribution period is agreed before the introduction and recorded in the introducer agreement. It can reflect the counterparty, opportunity and expected sales cycle.
Do I need to be a licensed broker?
Not if your role is limited to a permission-based commercial introduction. You do not negotiate, represent Poseidon or act as broker unless a separate written agreement expressly authorises it.
What if my contact is already your customer?
Then no commission is due on that counterparty, and we will tell you as soon as we check the log rather than after the fixture. This is why introductions are registered before contact is made.
How is the referral fee set?
Commercial terms are agreed privately for each accepted introduction. The written agreement defines the calculation basis, qualifying business, attribution period and payment conditions. No fee is due for a counterparty or opportunity that Poseidon has not accepted in writing.
Who cannot receive a referral fee?
We do not pay undisclosed commissions to employees, procurement representatives or agents of the referred company, public officials, or anyone whose receipt of a fee would breach a duty, policy or law. Required disclosures and approvals must be completed before an introduction is accepted.
